Lavender Salve

Lavender is extremely versatile and makes a wonderful salve: antimicrobial, antispasmodic, nervine, relaxing, pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory. This recipe is just three ingredients (lavender-infused oil, beeswax, and essential oil) and it makes a great staple to stock in your medicine cabinet or first aid kit.
Prep Time 30 minutes
Cooling Time 30 minutes
Servings: 1 small jar (4 oz)

Ingredients

  • 2 oz lavender infused Sweet Almond Oil
  • 10 g beeswax
  • 15 drops lavender essential oil
  • 1 sprig lavender, for decoration (optional)

Equipment

  • small pot
  • scale
  • heat-proof jar

Method

  1. Weigh your oil and beeswax into a small 4 oz heat-proof jar, or if you are using little metal tins, you could also do this in a small heat-proof jar/measuring cup to pour later.
  2. Melt beeswax & oil together in a double boiler.
  3. Remove from heat and drop in your lavender essential oil.
  4. If using a decorative sprig on top, wait until your salve starts to set to lay your sprig (about ten minutes) to make sure it doesn't get lost under the surface.
    Label and enjoy!

I have been prone to migraines since adolescence. Starting an egg retrieval for IVF, I am anticipating many upcoming ones. My clinic is overbooked so instead of starting the classic 10-day Estrace protocol, me and all the other patients are being put on an extended 30+ day one, to override our cycles and batch schedule stimulations and ERs without worry of cancelation. Which is not what our doctor, my husband, and I had previously talked about, and is taking my resting level of moderate anxiety to new peaks. Can you tell I already started the Estrace? 4mg/day is certainly delivering the advertised mood swings, my poor husband.

Anyways, making this lavender salve was my “do something positive.” I wanted to make something beautiful that also prepares me for any upcoming headaches and migraines. ♡
