Calendula Salve

This homemade calendula salve is made with just three ingredients and comes together in under 30 minutes. A staple of herbal first aid kits for centuries, calendula salve is soothing, gentle, and endlessly versatile: perfect for dry skin, minor scrapes, and everyday skincare.
Cook Time 30 minutes
Servings: 2 (4 oz) salve jars

Ingredients

  • 1 cup calendula-infused oil (I used jojoba oil infused with calendula and chamomile)
  • 3 tbsp beeswax
  • 2 tbsp shea butter
  • 2 pieces dried calendula flowers (optional, just for decoration)

Equipment

  • 1 small pot
  • 1 8 oz jar (for melting)
  • 2 4 oz jars (destination)

Method

  1. Measure your oil, shea butter, and beeswax into an 8 oz heat-proof jar.
  2. Melt beeswax, butter, and oil together in a double boiler.
  3. Remove from heat and pour into your (2) 4 oz jars.
  4. If using a decorative flower on top, wait until your salve starts to set to gently lay your sprig on top (about ten minutes) to make sure it doesn't get lost under the surface.
    Label and enjoy!
